12 Lies That Youth (Well... All Of Us Believe!)   January 11, 2017

1. There is no truth.                                                                                                                  7. If it feels good do it.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the                                                        He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than

life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)                                  to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. (Hebrews 11:25)

2. If I am good enough I will get to heaven.                                                                         8. My friends and family will be with me forever.

All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all                                                     For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each

our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up                                                     of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body,

like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. (Isaiah 64:6)                                whether good or bad. (II Corinthians 5:10)

3. When I am on my own I can do what I want.                                                                  9. I do not have to change friends to follow Christ.

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there                                     Do not be mislead: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

is no authority except that which God has established. The                                            (I Corinthians 15:33)

authorities that exist have been established by God. (Romans 13:1)

                                                                                                                                                   10. What I listen to and watch does not effect the way I think.

4. The things I do now are not important.                                                                          Finally, brother and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is

If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones,                            right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything

wood, hay, or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because                           is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)

the day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire

will test the quality of each person’s work. (I Corinthians 3:12-13)                                11. There is no consequence for my sins.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in

5. My past determines my worth.                                                                                        Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken

hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining                          12. Serving God is boring.

toward what is ahead. (Philippians 3:13)                                                                            Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who

takes refuge in Him. (Psalm 34:8)

6. The easiest way is the best way.

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of

shedding your blood. And have you completely forgotten this word of

encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It

says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not

lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one

He loves, and He chastens everyone he accepts as His son.” (Hebrews 12:4-6)

Those ^^^^ are LIES!!

There are A LOT of things that we tell ourselves and each other that for some reason we actually tend to believe! And when we tell ourselves something over and over we actually start to believe it!!! "Life and death are in the power of the tongue..." (Proverbs 18:21) talks about the words we say and how they positively or negatively effect ourselves and others.

If a teacher, parent, boss, etc. tells you that you're stupid enough times, you start to believe it and act like it. (Sadly this happens WAY too much!

If a friend tells you that you are beautiful inside and out, and they do it often, you start to become more confident in yourself, even if you don't realize it.

So... with the lies above (AND THERE ARE LITERALLY 100s OR MAYBE EVEN 1000s MORE) how we look at them and hear them over and over is what we tend to believe. That's how our minds work! Thankfully there are scriptures to fight the lies and show us how to fight back urges or resist temptations, we just have to want to believe truth! So again...                              "You do your best and God will do the rest"

Take the verses given and look up some of your own and see that God wants more for you than you may realize. You don't have to just take what life is trying to hand you, life is too short to let other people and circumstances tell you who you are and how you're supposed to live. That's up to God's plan and you allowing Him to lead!

There are 86,400 seconds in a day, You choose how they're spent!
